ELIAS: Good morning!
MERRILL: Hi, Elias! Itís good to talk to you again!
ELIAS: And you also!
MERRILL: Itís been a while, but I think Iíve been making some progress, reading the sessions and trying to enact some of the ideas into real life. (Elias laughs) Every time I come up with a question to ask you, I read another couple of sessions and you answer it.
ELIAS: (Laughs) Yes.
MERRILL: I appreciate that very much. I have a clock on my wall that I call my Elias clock. It reminds me every day of your presence. For the record, let me explain that the clock sometimes runs clockwise and keeps very good time, in a normal manner. But sometimes, like right now, itís running counter-clockwise. (Elias laughs) Sometimes it stops. In any of those three modes, sometimes the pendulum is swinging and sometimes it is not. You are laughing, and I know that you are manipulating the clock, reminding me that you are here and available for my help, and I appreciate that.
ELIAS: Yes, you are correct.
MERRILL: Thank you. It also helps me think about time in different manners. I appreciate your help very much. I want you to continue it, because I feel your presence and I do think Iím making some progress even though at times it seems slow.
ELIAS: I am in agreement.
MERRILL: My impression is, Elias, that you influenced me many years ago, even in my discovery of the Seth material.
MERRILL: In 1995 you brought a person into my life for just a very short period of time. She showed me a book called ďSeth Speaks,Ē and I was really drawn to it. In a very short time she moved on to another job in a different location. Then at the turn of the century, two people I corresponded with for just a few times told me about your sessions and how to access them, and shortly after that we stopped corresponding. I donít think it was a coincidence. (Elias laughs) So I enjoy all your help and direction.
ELIAS: You are quite welcome.
MERRILL: Iíd like to ask a few questions about myself, first, and then a few more questions about a couple of friends. Is my signature color like a soft yellowish-blue?
MERRILL: Is there a name that you would attach to it?
ELIAS: I would express that it would be a buttercup.
MERRILL: Is my focus color in this dimension an orangey-red like peach or salmon?
MERRILL: Coral, ah, okay. Am I emotionally focused?
MERRILL: And my vibrational tone as translated or interpreted by a musical note, would that be C?
MERRILL: How many total focuses have I in this dimension?
ELIAS: Numbering 979.
MERRILL: How many in this current time framework?
MERRILL: Any in the future? How many?
ELIAS: Yes. That fluctuates, but you do incorporate many future focuses.
MERRILL: Could you give me any information about a couple of concurrent focuses in terms like gender or location?
ELIAS: Two females, two males; one female within the location of South America, one female in the location of Japan, one male in the location of Central Africa, one male in the location of Denmark.
MERRILL: Iíll see what I can investigate around that. Do you have any other information for me?
ELIAS: I shall leave you to your investigations.
MERRILL: Do I hold an aspect of Speaker?
MERRILL: Thank you. I wanted to ask a few questions about my partner, my wife, Lorraine. When did she start transition?
ELIAS: Approximately seven years prior.
MERRILL: On June 14, 1999, Lorraine exhibited some intense physical reactions Ė chills, lack of control. She recovered the next day, but it was a very difficult night for her and some of the symptoms didnít completely go away. Was that the beginning of transition?
ELIAS: No. That was an experience of fluctuation in association with the choice of disengagement.
MERRILL: Did she have an intersection with and an exchange with a parallel alternate self?
MERRILL: I thought so. I noticed some physical changes subsequent to that experience, like an almost immediate weight gain. Did that exchange take place during that episode in mid-June?
MERRILL: When she, as primary self, chose to start transition, did all of her alternate selves engage elements of transition? (Pause)
MERRILL: So when she disengages, they would all disengage too, I suppose?
MERRILL: Even after Lorraine required full-time care and her memory had seriously been disrupted, the working relationship between her body consciousness and her subjective self was thrown out of kilter, and she couldnít respond appropriately or have a conversation. I continued to talk to her about what youíve told us about transition, and I continued to read excerpts from the session for about 15 minutes at a time to her. She seemed to appreciate that. She seemed to understand, although she couldnít respond in a conversation. Did she really understand?
MERRILL: Why is there such diversity among individuals choosing transition before they disengage, with some showing very little affectingness after a lengthy period in transition while others are greatly affected after a short period in transition?
ELIAS: It is the choice of the individual, and it is dependent upon their direction. Some individuals choose to be engaging the action of transition while continuing within physical focus as a manner to aid their movement in shifting and accepting beliefs. Other individuals engage the action of transition within physical focus to be facilitating the action of transition in nonphysical expression and bypassing a step, so to speak, which many individuals generate subsequent to death or disengagement in which they continue to be incorporating an objective awareness, and they continue to be generating objective imagery.
Some individuals choose to move directly into a further action of transition nonphysically and not to be incorporating that action of continuing to express objective imagery for a temporary time framework. Other individuals may choose to be engaging transition, and it may be somewhat affecting but not as affecting as those that are generating that choice to be facilitating the nonphysical transition. Their choice and their direction may be to assist themselves or to facilitate an easier manner or method to be engaging other focuses and engaging other aspects of themselves.
Therefore, it is the choice of the individual and is dependent upon their direction and what they are engaging as to how severe the affectingness is of this state.
MERRILL: I thank you for that explanation.
ELIAS: You are quite welcome.
MERRILL: Iíd like to ask a few more questions about my friend, Pat, who just experienced a couple of hurricanes in Florida. Do we hold a counterpart action or relationship?
MERRILL: We thought so. How many focuses have we shared together?
MERRILL: Wow! Are any of them future focuses?
MERRILL: Did we share a focus in Ireland about the 18th century?
MERRILL: Could you tell me something about the nature of the relationships which we have shared together in past focuses?
ELIAS: You incorporate many different types of relationships: as siblings, as friends, as family members and also as partners.
MERRILL: Weíve had a lot of interaction together, and itís all been focused around the information that you are giving to us, and I appreciate that. Is Patís signature color indigo?
MERRILL: And what color signifies her energy in this focus?
ELIAS: Eggplant purple.
MERRILL: Is Pat emotionally focused?
MERRILL: Is the musical note that interprets the quality of her current focus energy G?
MERRILL: Itís Patís impression that she is designated final focus. Is that so?
MERRILL: What total number of focuses has she in this physical dimension? Our impressions differ. Pat says itís just a few, maybe less than a hundred. My impression is that itís over 700.
ELIAS: Your impression is correct: 802.
MERRILL: Thank you very much. Iíve known Carson for about ten years, and for the past year or more he sort of invited me to talk to him about the Elias information. I didnít push it on him. But heís holding increasing interest in this information and this move toward the shift. I know that about a week ago, you visited him at his place and manipulated the lights one evening. (Elias laughs) He finally told me about that, and I laughed out loud and said, ďWell, Elias has paid you a visit and wants to get your attention to let you know that heís around if you want his help.Ē
ELIAS: Correct! And you may extend my invitation to this individual.
MERRILL: I will. Is his essence family Sumafi?
MERRILL: And is his alignment Sumari?
MERRILL: How many total focuses has he in this physical dimension?
ELIAS: One thousand one hundred twenty-five.
MERRILL: Wow! How many of them are concurrent?
MERRILL: Any of them future?
MERRILL: Do Carson and I share focuses together?
MERRILL: Could you make comments about how many and where, and something about the relationships?
ELIAS: You incorporate 49 focuses together in different capacities of relationships also Ė as family members, as friends and also as romantic relationships.
MERRILL: Is he emotionally focused?
MERRILL: Do we hold counterpart action?
MERRILL: For the record, in my birth family Iím the youngest of eight siblings. At this moment, Iíd like to ask a question about my birth mother. My impression is that I have had previous focuses with many or all of the members of my birth family, but especially my mother.
ELIAS: Yes, you are correct.
MERRILL: My mother and I shared many focuses, mainly around the British Isles. My impression is that our shared focuses involve relationships as family members, friends, but also romantic or intimate relationships.
ELIAS: Yes, you are correct.
MERRILL: Like maybe in Scotland, Wales, Ireland, England, all around that area?
MERRILL: Anything else you want to add to make my explorations easier?
ELIAS: (Laughs) I shall express to you to trust your impressions.
MERRILL: Iím getting so I trust my impressions a lot more.
What is the nature of veils? Are they just agreements among essences? What specifically goes on there? Iím trying to think of what it is as I try to break through the veils and get rid of beliefs involving separation and singularity and to be able to expand my consciousness more in that direction.
ELIAS: First of all, you are not getting rid of the belief of separation. But in acceptance of it and acknowledgment of it, you may choose to express that in a different manner and allow yourself more flexibility.
The veils of separation are actually purposeful. They are associated with many physical realities, for this expression of separation offers a comfort in your identity, and it also serves for the purity of your experiences within your physical reality.
Now; in shifting, as you widen your awareness and as you become much more familiar with yourself intimately and become more familiar with yourself as essence, and you express a comfort in that knowing and in that widening of awareness, this allows you to thin those veils of separation and also to penetrate them. For as you become more intimately aware of yourself and of energy and of manipulating energy, the threat to your individual identity dissipates. Therefore, you allow yourself more freedom in movement to be generating actions in which you alter your perception, and you do not incorporate those veils of separation so strongly.
They shall continue to an extent within your physical reality even in fully shifting, but that is an element of the blueprint of this particular physical reality. Therefore, that is not being eliminated, either. It is merely being expressed in more transparency, therefore allowing you to move more freely in other directions, which I have expressed previously concerning movement in association with other dimensions and other dimensional focuses or other areas of consciousness, and which is already beginning in association with individuals that have disengaged and the awareness of individuals continuing within your physical reality and their ability to penetrate that veil and interact with individuals that have disengaged. It also allows you more freedom in merging with other focuses within this dimension, allowing you to experience the other focuses, not merely incorporating impressions but actually experiencing the other focuses of yourself.
MERRILL: Next, Elias, Iíd like to get to my intent. I have some impressions, and I put together some highlights that support my intent. At the end of this, Iíd like to get a good Elias-like clear statement of my intent. I think I have a pretty good handle on it.
ELIAS: Very well.
MERRILL: Iím going to use your imagery of a tree as we discuss intent. The trunk of the tree represents the basic theme of the intent, and the branches represent various directions Iíve taken to explore experiences and so forth. Iím asking to attach roots to that tree, that image, and also a big shooting star bloom at the top. First of all, as we all do, I chose my parents. They devotedly followed the doctrine and beliefs of a particular religious sect, and all of the other members of my birth family seemed to follow that religion faithfully and entirely from birth to death.
I had an experience at age five. I was playing alone outside of our house. I stopped my tricycle, looked up into the sky, and I received a communication. I donít know whether there were words spoken or not; I doubt it. But the communication was clear, and Iíve remembered this experience all my life. The communication, as I interpret it now was ďyou will move in a different direction from the rest of the family.Ē Since birth I have tended to reach out and befriend other people of widely differing backgrounds, different cultural groups, different religions, different belief systems, and I have experienced with them their different lifestyles and philosophies of living, and evaluated and compared them throughout my life. I think one outcome of these explorations was it influenced me to be drawn so strongly to the Seth material and to your information.
I see in this tree image the roots being my birth family and the strong religious influence which I moved away from, and secondly, my explorations and evaluations of the widely differing philosophies of life leading me to your information, which is imaged in the bloom at the top of the tree. So the branches represent experiences such as my military experiences in World War II, college, teaching, educational publishing, horticulture and gardening.
So there is the image of the roots, the trunk, the branches and the bloom at the top. (Elias chuckles) I can also clearly see the influence of my essence family, Sumafi, in the branches of the tree. I generally go into a subject in such depth that I can discuss it with least distortion, and I do practice a lot of repetition. The Sumari influences my abilities to go into a new situation and establish relationships with people and have experiences with them about their beliefs, along with my art of creating a garden and music and so forth. Would you comment on that, and then give me a statement?
ELIAS: I may express to you congratulations in your evaluation of your intent within this focus and the accuracy of which you have evaluated it. I may express to you a statement of identifying your intent in this focus would be the exploration of difference in association with philosophies and beliefs, and the exploration of meshing those differences together and how that is accomplished.
MERRILL: If you stated my intent in a sentence, what would it be?
ELIAS: The exploration of difference in association with philosophy and beliefs and how to be meshing those differences together to generate harmony or acceptance.
MERRILL: Thank you very much!
ELIAS: You are quite welcome.
MERRILL: Have you and I shared focuses together where we have known each other?
ELIAS: Yes, in also different capacities as siblings, as friends, as intimate friends, and in other family relationships such as parent and child, and grandparents and children.
MERRILL: Was I having a focus at the same time that you were Oscar Wilde?
ELIAS: Yes, but within that focus the meeting was brief, within a school.
MERRILL: I keep repeating the last line of that play ďThe Importance of Being Earnest.Ē Had you written that play at that time?
ELIAS: No, but the reason you incorporate the association is that as that focus became more well-known within the public forum, you expressed that you had briefly known that individual within school, and that was an expression of pride of your focus.
MERRILL: Did I have a focus at the same time framework as Rudyard Kipling?
MERRILL: Were we acquainted, or was I just acquainted with his writings?
MERRILL: Did I happen to be in the British military with him?
MERRILL: The reason I ask is that I had a very profound impression on this. I woke up one morning about a year ago, and I started reciting ďGunga DinĒ with such feeling that it brought tears to my eyes. My impression was that I must have had a focus at the same time as Rudyard Kipling.
ELIAS. Correct, and also counterpart action.
MERRILL: I recently took a trip and was walking through the Dallas-Fort Worth airport to a connecting flight. As I walked along this wide corridor, a man dashed across the corridor and came up to me, and we started talking like we were old friends. He talked about his experiences, and I talked about my experiences, and it was as if we had known each other. But my concern was getting on this next flight, so I finally told him Iíve got to go see about my flight. Then as I walked down there, I thought this meeting didnít happen by coincidence; I must have had some connection with this man before. So I rushed back to find him, but I couldnít find him. Is he someone that Iíve had some previous focuses with, or what?
MERRILL: Could you give me a little information about that?
ELIAS. And what would your impression be as to the connection with this individual? For this individual is another focus of another individual that has been known to you and has been what you term to be close to you. What would your impression be as to who that individual would be connected to?
MERRILL: Iíd better think about this after I get the tape. (1)
ELIAS: Very well.
MERRILL: Iíd like to get some confirmation on my impressions on my exploration of some of my other focuses. First, my 11th century tribal woman, mother of six children, South Africa, was her name Nítiti?
MERRILL: It is?! Thatís amusing! Were her six children four females and two males?
MERRILL: And were different fathers involved with the different children?
MERRILL: Was this a common practice in the tribe at that time?
MERRILL: Was she looked on with some favor for bringing six more members into the tribe?
MERRILL: Did the tribe frequently move to different locations to gather food and avoid conflict with other tribes?
ELIAS: Semi-frequently, yes.
MERRILL: Next, my 18th century Indonesian woman whose occupation was prostitution, did she live in the area that is called Jakarta?
MERRILL: Was her name Tahisha?
MERRILL: Did she do some singing and dancing, some entertaining to attract clients that she wanted?
ELIAS: At times, yes.
MERRILL: Next is my 18th century male North American native. Did he live in the area that is currently called Ketchikan, Alaska?
MERRILL: Was his name Okimo?
MERRILL: Amazing! (Elias laughs) Did he sometimes fish the river that flows from the inland waterway, and other times fish around the islands of the inland waterway and trade his fish for other goods and services with other members of the tribe?
MERRILL: Many tribal members valued his advice in solving problems and issues that might arise in their lives, disagreements and things like that.
MERRILL: Did he indeed have a totem pole symbolizing the connection with humans, plants and animals and all of nature?
ELIAS: A type of, yes. The individual is viewed as a type of shaman.
MERRILL: Oh, I see. Was he part of a tribal group that more or less made the rules, or did he operate pretty independently by himself?
MERRILL: I thought so. Next is my 18th century native South American native, who is a cloth merchant. Did he live with a small group with maybe seven to ten families in one group?
MERRILL: And his group lived on a southward flowing tributary to the Amazon River in Brazil?
MERRILL: These native South Americans would live in one place for a while until they used up the timber and the available food and things they were getting from nature, and then they might move into another area. Did they build a house that had one room on the ground and another room above that? They slept upstairs, and the daytime activities took place around the bottom floor?
MERRILL: When he went out to get his cloth and distribute it, heíd take maybe two or three fairly good-sized canoes and several people with him, go down this tributary and down the Amazon a little way to the source where heíd get his cloth and then distribute it to different natives up the Amazon and different tributaries, sometimes being gone three months or so. When he returned, his whole group would turn out and celebrate his return, and heíd bring home cloth to the ladies and so forth. Thatís the picture I have.
ELIAS: Correct, and you are generating considerable accuracy.
MERRILL: Well, thank you! Iím amazed! Iím getting better at my impressions. I had a 16th century male in Edinborough, Scotland, a shipmate. Was his name either Robert or Jack Holmes?
ELIAS: Yes, the latter.
MERRILL: Whether he was home or docked in foreign ports, heíd kind of seek out the pubs and was friendly and formed loose relationships with various people, including different women. Sometimes he would travel out into the countryside along the coast of Scotland but not into the higher mountains.
MERRILL: Iíd like to say that although itís been three years since weíve talked face to face like this, I have been very avidly reading the sessions.
ELIAS: I am aware.
MERRILL: At times it seems I assimilate and utilize the information rather slowly, but overall I think I am making considerable progress in moving toward this shift. (Elias chuckles) As a matter of fact, I think Iíve had a recent experience of what things would be like after the Shift. I had some extra rock after a project, and I built a rock garden for my neighbor. That would be the kind of thing that we would be doing, trading, not for money. After the Shift, different people will do what they want to do, and if they do more than they would consume, theyíll trade with other people that are doing what they want to do.
ELIAS: In a manner of speaking, yes.
MERRILL: I notice that surprising things happen almost every day now in line with what I want, and I think I am accomplishing. I think I am better able to focus on self in the moment. Gardening is one activity where you can get a lot of practice making choices, and Iíve done a lot of that. Iíd like you to comment on my progress or lack of, as you see it.
ELIAS: I would be expressing to you, yes indeed, you have been accomplishing, and I am acknowledging of you and validate your awareness of what you are accomplishing and that you are generating movement with this shift, allowing yourself much more freedom and much more allowance also.
MERRILL: I appreciate that. I acknowledge myself!
ELIAS: Very well! Ha ha ha!
MERRILL: One in a while I devalue myself, but Iím getting so I notice more. I am really quite enthusiastic about being able to create more deliberately, and I think things are going well. Of course, I still have this problem with my partner in a nursing home and I long for a relationship there, but Iíll hold that in mind and take care of the moment.
ELIAS: Very well!
MERRILL: Elias, is there anything in particular that you could offer me while weíre talking directly that would help me to move more and more into the direction of this shift in consciousness that I might not be mindful of? Could you help me with that? Also, if there is anything you want to say about new information, we have just a few minutes. Iíd like you to use those minutes that way.
ELIAS: (Chuckles) Very well, my friend. I may express to you my acknowledgment of your movement already, and merely express to you an encouragement to continue but to also incorporate somewhat more playfulness.
MERRILL: Playful? You mean relax more?
ELIAS: Allow yourself to incorporate a playfulness in what you do, and that may generate much more ease also. (Chuckles) I shall be offering my energy to you to be encouraging you to be incorporating that playfulness. I express my supportiveness to you, and you are aware that I am always with you, and I am always available to you.
MERRILL: Yes, and I really appreciate that. I know what I appreciate, and thatís true love.
ELIAS: You are correct. Ha ha!
MERRILL: Chills go up my spine that I have such a dear friend thatís available to guide me in the direction I want to go.
ELIAS: And I express the same to you also in my appreciation and love of yourself and your friendship.
MERRILL: I hate to let you go...
ELIAS: I shall be anticipating our next meeting.
MERRILL: Yes, Iíll continue to read the sessions and come up with questions, and weíll have another session and weíll talk.
ELIAS: Very well, and I shall offer my greetings in energy to your partner.
MERRILL: Oh, thank you very much! Iíll tell her. I donít know how much she understands now, but she is just a marvelous person. Even now that sheís not coordinated just right, she carries on with that aura of being a very gentle, loving person.
ELIAS: I am aware, and my energy shall be present. To you in tremendous fondness, my friend, au revoir.
